The psychological thriller is a “multifaceted character” study of intrigue about a rookie cop who teams up with a former colleague to bring a serial killer to justice. The movie relies on an excellent script and the indepth interaction between its characters and less on hard-core action.

Director Wai Ka-fai told the Associated Press that the success of this project should finally lay to rest the misguided impression that Chinese filmmakers are unable to make any thing other than action films. “It isn’t true that Chinese directors only make action movies,” stated Wai.
