sosf-news-briefs-logo.jpgParamount Pictures has tapped scribe Stuart Beattie (“Collateral,” “Pirates of the Caribbean”) to bring Hasbro’s toy soldier G.I. Joe to the big screen.


Actor Michael Shanks, who starred as Dr. Daniel Jackson for 10 years on “Stargate SG-1,” will be making a guest appearance on another one of SCI FI Channel’s hit shows, “Eureka.” He will be on the episode that airs on September 25. Hopefully, seeing one of my favorite actors on a decent show again can wash the bad taste of “Mega Snake” out of my mouth.


Yeah, yeah, I know you’ve heard this at least a hundred times already over the past year or two, but this time director Richard Kelly says he really is about to wrap up “Southland Tales.” The film stars Sarah Michelle Geller, Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson and Seann William Scott. There is actual hope that it’s true this time because Kelly says today is the day he buttons it up so that it will be ready for its long overdue theatrical release on November 9.

We learned today that NBC Universal has decided against renewing its contract to sell digital downloads of television shows on Apple Inc’s iTunes after failing to come to an agreement on pricing. NBC has had much success with their own site, NBC.com for release of their many products online.
