UGO's "Top 50" TV Shows Of All-Time

Article submitted by: Michael Hickerson (SoSF Staff Journalist)

UGO has released their “Top 50″ tv-shows of all-time. Genre shows making the list are:

50. Babylon Five
48. Tales from the Crypt
47. Alias
46. Dungeons and Dragons
45. Xena
43. Mystery Science Theater 3000
39. Quantum Leap
38. 24
37. Lost
34. Cowboy Bebop
30. Superfriends
28. Transformers
26. Dr Who
25. Twilight Zone
16. Batman: The Animated Series
15. Star Trek: The Next Generation
13. The X-Files
11. Firefly
3. Battlestar Galactica
1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

It’s an intersesting list, but I don’t agree with much of it. For one thing, [for the whole listing] it’s absurd to have “Saved by the Bell” on the list at all, much less above “Seinfeld.”

And there’s no mention of classic Star Trek, which makes the list lose a ton of points in my estimation.

But that’s why we’re geeks….we enjoy debating these things.

Batman the animated series beat out Babylon 5. Thats ridiculous. And I agree that STTOS being missing on this list makes this stupid.

I've said many times, that no one will ever agree on these lists.

    stargate sg-1?
    buffy as #1?
this list makes me very sad

ok i must be missing something. when was there ever a D & D television show?? I sure don't remember this.

    tim

  4. Kurt in St. George says:

This list is a joke. The Price is Right is listed at number 10. Why is any game show on this list?

  5. V says:

    tim,
the Dungeons and Dragons show, was an '80s cartoon.

  6. Lee in WV says:

tim and darcy low: I think they're referring to the cartoon series that came on in the mid 80's.

As for the list: Firefly is #11? I thought it should have been higher than that. At least in the top 10. Beevis and butthead gets a spot and Stargate SG-1 doesn't. That invalidates this list right there.

  7. JayW says:

You have to be kidding me. SG1 isn't on the list?

SG1 is by far one of the best TV shows ever made. Yeah - it over did it the last few seasons on making fun of itself, but it is my all time favorite Sci-Fi show.

Its funny- I can guess the age of the person(s) that came up with this list.

    Transformers? give me a break
    Batman?
    Superfriends?
Ahead of 24 no less!!!!! LOL

this list is an insignificant joke.

Does any1 know when the original Air Date/Broadcast Date was for Quantum Leap in Australia?.

I know we are at least 6months behind, it would of been way after it Aired in May of 1989 in the USA, but i cant remember when this 1 actually came on here.

    thanks.
