A Message From Iraq

Hello my name is [name withheld]; I am currently from [location withheld] which is currently deployed to Iraq. Our unit is conducting numerous missions over here and we are currently doing a 15 month deployment over in Iraq. I am the Medical Platoon Sergeant and have 14 medics under me and some of them don’t receive any care packages while we are here. My soldiers love watching Star Trek… matter of fact they watch it every night. Star Trek Voyager is the one we watch and it is amazing that the series has continued to go on since William Shatner was on.

I remember when me and my father use to watch it every Monday and telling me to be quiet because it was on and to that day I still laugh about it. Movies and video games is the most that we do here just to relax us through the day and it keeps our mind off of knowing that are we are not home with our loved ones. We have a hard time having the newest games or movies here due to the fact that well… we are in Iraq and things don’t come easy over here so at this point anything would be useful.

Personal Hygiene, snacks, magazines, or friendly notes from back home would be great. We have XBOX, XBOX 360 and Playstation 3’s before we got over here and now just trying to get things is pretty tough over here. If there could be any support in this it will be grateful and some would maybe like if William Shatner would send them some appreciation for being over here because the soldiers risk their lives over here and really not getting the full appreciation that we do. I would like to thank Trek to the Troops for organizing this and I will continue to keep you updated on anything that goes on here while we are here.
