Turning the Next Gen Onto Old School Scifi
Hey Slicers,
I’m a new listener to your Farpoint podcasts, and have to say I am very impressed. I am forty nine and have just recently been given a iPod for my birthday from my twelve year old daughter. (I bought it myself, after her telling me. “Dude, you SOOOOO need this”) yes, I reached that point in my life where I went from dad to dude.
I write OCR software, so I am sitting a lot. These podcasts really make the time go by, and I have started watching shows the you have recommended that I never would have tried before. I’m watching the Lifetime Channel ! And I’m not depressed, who knew?
My daughter thinks Summer is ” da bomb”, and we sit and listen together here. As I said, she’s twelve so I am trying to get her into my type of sci fi (the old school stuff Summer likes). Might let her know of Movies Unlimited. I have found it is a great place to pick up old sci fi DVD’s and videos.
Well you all have a great holiday, really love the shows. And if you could, tell Mr. Stackpole thank you for the Secrets to writing podcast. I’m not a writer, but I find it interesting to see how a story comes about. very well done!
Wishes you all the best,
Tim and Darcy
Thanks Tim for the kind words. That is the best way to keep scifi alive — passing it on to the next generation and letting them discover for themselves just how cool it can really be — even some of the “old school” stuff.
