All the recent talk about William Shatner (Captain Kirk) not being asked to do a cameo for Star Trek 11, aka “Star Trek,” may be nothing more than pure speculation and Internet chatter.
“Star Trek” screenwriters Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, say all this talk is nothing more than talk without any real substance, according to SyFy Portal.
“We were very surprised about that,” Kurtzman told MTV upon hearing that the iconic William Shatner was reportedly not considered for a cameo for the new flick which centers on the younger Kirk and Spock. Rumor had it that Shatner was being ignored while his friend Leonard Nimoy had been asked to do a cameo as the older version of Spock for the flick.
“We’re certainly hoping to include him [Shatner] in the shoot because we have nothing but reverence and awe for the man,” Orci said.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m pretty fine seeing this one without ‘The Shat’ in a cameo.
It was nice seeing ‘Bones’ in Farpoint – passing the torch onto the Next Gen. series, and even better seeing Spock and Scotty as characters within the plot of the show as themselves, adding to the canon, and adding to the episode…
… but really, didn’t they already do this in Generations?

It would have to depend on the script and how it is written. If the writers want to include both Shatner and Nimoy it would have to be done before Enterprise B and after Undiscovered Country. That could be a challenge. I would rather save my opinions until after the movie comes out.

Of course it could be after “Generations” with Spock reminiscing with a holographic Kirk.

I think its time to but Wm.Shatner on the back shelf as to being Captian of the Enterprise and let the Newer Captains take over in the Movies But we are talking about Star Trek 11 and this one is going to be taking place back in time before the TV show starts and will have Two Captians Kirk and … no not yet all though I do know who it’s going to be I do not want to spoil it for all who do not yet. Oh also Kahn is back!

I’m hoping that the whole main story is a flashback to young Kirk and Spock as 24th century Spock reflects back on his time with Kirk. These reflections occur as he travels on his way to rescue Kirk (after his death in Generations). (Hey, its Star Trek – they can find a way…) Besides, if Paramount wants to relaunch Star Trek based on the original crew, they don’t want that sorry ending to the leading protagonist from Generations. They gotta fix that.

Im looking forward to the new movie, wether shatner is in it or not, ill still enjoy it.
Id say this is the last movie, unless they do a ds9 movie because that seemed to have ended abruptly (in the firecaves with sisko) 🙁
