William Gibson’s bestseller novel that was first published in 1984, “Neuromancer,” is being brought to the big screen by indie producer Peter Hoffman. The project will get a $70 million budget with Joseph Kahn currently set to direct.

We reported this week that Brad Pitt is under serious consideration to play He-Man in the next Masters of the Universe flick. Now we can report that the team of Warner Bros. Pictures, Mattel Toys, screenwriter Justin Marks and producer Joel Silver are all on the same page and want to see this live-action feature come to bear fruit. Mattel has been reluctant over the years to allow another Masters of the Universe film, but now seem ready to get it done.
Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning masterpiece “Pan’s Labyrinth,” was this week’s new DVD release sales chart topper. It was also the highest rented video of the week. Anyone who has seen this beautiful work of cinematic art and riveting fantasy-thriller is not surprised by this news.
NBC’s number one show “Heroes,” is over for this season but the network has already announced the introduction of four new heroes for the fall season of the program. Claire, played by Hayden Panettiere will be returning for the second season, and the cheerleader will finally get a boyfriend with his own unique powers. Additional cast members will include an Irish mobster, young black woman who will end up being a substitute mother for Niki’s son Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey), and a young Latino woman. All will be heroes of a type, but will be appearing in non-lead roles.
Variety is reporting that Arnold and Anne Kopelson will produce the fantasy family adventure “Land of Lost Things” for Paramount Pictures’ Nickelodeon Movies, from a script by newbie writer Dan Mazeau.
Star Trek: Hidden Frontier Executive Producer Rob Caves and Producer/Actor J.T. Tepnapa has joined the Star Trek: New Voyages team as Associate Producers for the episode titled “Blood and Fire”. Hidden Frontier holds the distinction of producing 50 episodes of the longest running Star Trek fan series on the web. The series draws to a close and concludes this Spring in a feature-length final episode.
“Stargate SG-1,” after 10 seasons on the air is getting ready to wrap things up for television before they release their much anticipated two direct-to-DVD films. They say their goodbyes to the TV audience in these heartwarming video clips.
