Even though Disney has touted that “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” is the last of the “Pirates” films, actor Johnny Depp has not yet tired of playing the role of screwball, but delightful Jack Sparrow.
The versatile actor told AP Press reporter Eric Talmadge that three journeys as Captain Jack haven’t quenched his thirst and he may want another crack at doing the character on film.
“It’s been a great experience,” Depp said. “Trying to discover who Captain Jack was, getting slapped around by the Disney people — it was all fun.”
“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” will premiere today in some theaters across the United States and everywhere else on May 24.
The film completes what had originally been intended as a trilogy of movies based on the ride by the same name at Disneyland.
“There was always that potential that each of us would have to say goodbye to the character,” Depp said. “But if it is over, which one never knows, Captain Jack will always be with me.”
“This is the end for now,” stated Jerry Bruckheimer, the franchise’s producer . “I think everybody is exhausted and needs some time off. We’re all going to take a little break.”
Once cast and crew have had some time off to refresh themselves, think about other things and do some other gigs, will Depp still feel the same about Sparrow as he does now? If so, it is very likely we have not seen the last of this loveable scallywag.
