“The Masters of the Universe” could be headed back to the big-screen with a big-name star in the role of He-Man. Rumors have surfaced that Brad Pitt is in the running to play He-Man should the project make it to production. Legendary Pictures — the team behind “Superman Returns” — are set to give the Eighties cartoon the 2007 treatment.
A movie source said: “They are very keen on Brad for the role. He’ll have to bulk up though — he’s very fit but not to He-Man proportions.”
Should Pitt not be available for the role, the producers have a second choice in mind–Gerald Butler from “300.”
The script for the new film is written by Adam Rifkin, who penned this summer’s upcoming “Underdog.”
According to SCI FI Wire Barry Sonnenfeld is in negotiations to direct the supernatural action-adventurer “The Box” for 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Evan Spiliotopoulos is writing the screenplay, which serves up a contemporary take on the myth of Pandora’s box.
“The Box” centers on a college graduate with an uncertain future, who is tricked into opening the mythical box, unwittingly unleashing the evils trapped within. He then must team with Pandora to save the world from destruction.
“Box” returns Sonnenfeld to the genres that put him on the map, with such movies as “The Addams Family” and “Men in Black”.
