frankmiller_500.jpgLionsgate, after laboriously trying to acquire the distribution rights to Will Eisner’s classic graphic novel series “The Spirit,” has landed a director and someone to adapt the series for a movie script. That person is none other than graphic novel icon Frank Miller, author of “Sin City” and “300″. Miller was a close friend of Eisner’s and views this as a labor of love for his former mentor.

“The Spirit” tells the tale of a man who fakes his own death so he can fight crime from the shadows of Central City. The bad guy is a fellow called the Octopus. This maniac kills those unfortunate enough to catch a glimpse of his face. He also has an evil plan to destroy the whole city.

Miller, will also be working behind the camera with Robert Rodriquez for the film sequel to “Sin City”.
