Dunst steps behind camera

Kirsten Dunst will make her feature-film directing debut later this summer as part of “Glamour” magazine’s “Reel Moments” film series.

The feature will be a short-film, based on a story submitted to “Glamour” magazine. Dunst will handle all the directing, casting and scripting duties for her first feature-film.

Dunst stated that she wants to direct a ghost story inspiried by classic scary films.

“I’ve always [been a fan of] Roman Polanski and, you know, Repulsion with Catherine Deneuve and, like, Rosemary’s Baby,” Dunst said in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., last week. “I mean, those are my favorite movies. Don’t Look Now. … The Night Porter is one of my favorite movies. … We just don’t make movies like that any more.”

Dunst will star in the film and has cast her friend, Michelle Williams as well. Principle photography begins in August.

Dunst is joined in the “Reel Moments” film series by other promiment female stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Gweneth Paltrow.
