NBC Makes Bold Nod To the Past
The NBC Network is returning to a programming format that all other networks have left behind for reality television — it is bringing back the Sunday Night Movies, and I say hurrah to them!
During May sweeps month NBC will return to the movie night with some pretty high profile flicks including such SF films as “National Treasure” and the original “Shrek” animated feature.
“Sunday seemed like the best place — the place where we used to do events and miniseries,” NBC programming chief Vince Manze told The Hollywood Reporter. “It seemed like a great thing to do and it accomplishes two things: building events and serving as counterprogramming to what the others are doing (on Sunday night).”
There was a time when all three networks NBC, ABC and CBS had one night set aside called ‘Movie Night,’ then along came Fox, Cable, VHS, DVD and eventually “reality TV” so Movie Night went the way of the dinosaur. I for one am glad to see it return, even if for just one month. Perhaps, if the ratings are high enough, this could be the newest (oldest) TV craze.

Yeah, I remmeber when I was a kid that all the big events (movies and such) happened on Sunday night. Kudos to NBC.
