TMNT’s Slippery Slope
“TMNT” didn’t hold their first place position for long, being quickly dispatched by the latest Will Ferrell and Jon Heder satiric look at professional ice skating, “Blades of Glory.” The animated fighting turtles lost ground quickly after barely beating out three week champion “300″ last weekend.
Frankly, very few were surprised by this, in fact, if box office receipts hold until midnight, “300″ will end up back ahead of “TMNT” and hold tightly to third place.
The estimated top 5 box office flicks in the U.S. this weekend appear to be, “Blades of Glory” in the number one slot, followed by the debut of another animation entry “Meet the Robinsons.” As stated, in the number three position is Zack Snyder’s epic “300,” with “TMNT” with a less than stellar showing of an added $9 million in the fourth position. Rounding out the estimated top five is the biker flick “Wild Hogs,” which continues to show staying power.
If figures hold then for the second weekend in a roll the top ten will be dominated by genre films keeping a hold on six out of the ten slots.
We will have the final Top 10 for you later in the week.
