“Night” Out of the Top Ten and “Ghost” Slips To Three

This weekend’s nasty weather didn’t seem to slow down the moviegoing crowd much. The new John Travolta ensemble film “Wild Hogs” brought in an impressive figure nearing $40 million, despite the fact that most of the nation was socked-in with a whole range of climate problems.

“Zodiac” debuted at number two, while “Ghost Rider” let go of its two week first place lead and slipped to third. The children’s fantasy film “Bridge To Terabithia” clung onto fourth while Jim Carrey’s thriller, “The Number 23″ grasped the cliff’s edge and stayed in the estimated Top 5 grossers for the weekend.

For the first time since it premiered way back on December 22, 2006, Ben Stiller’s surprise box office bonanza, “Night At the Museum” did not make the list of estimated Top 10 grossing films of the weekend. It has, to date, brought in more than $245 million domestic box office and still remains a runaway hit overseas.

For those wondering how Samuel L. Jackson’s new controversial gritty drama “Black Snake Moan” did this weekend, you will be happy to know that currently it is estimated to be the eighth money-making film of the weekend.

The final Top Ten films of this past weekend will be posted in just a few days….Standby!

I went to see Black Snake Moan. It was pretty darn good. A lot more heart-warming than I thought it would be.
