jam_heroes256.jpg‘Company Man,’ the episode of “HEROES” that premiered….(Monday Feb 26), was simply the best one hour of television I have ever seen — and that’s saying a lot. I grew up in a sci-fi obsessed TV household, so from a very young age I have watched just about every hour of SF TV ever made. Nothing compares to the ‘Company Man’ episode of HEROES. I was speechless. I simply couldn’t believe it.

‘Company Man’ focused on Claire Bennet’s father, sometimes referred to as HRG (Horned Rimmed Glasses), portrayed by Jack Coleman. (You may remember him from DYNASTY.) HRG’s past comes back to haunt him as he and his family are taken hostage by Matt Parkman and Ted Sprague.

Read more of Michael’s insights into this episode and other scifi musings at his website Phantom Reflections. He has some really good stuff to say over there, so check it out.

I agree. I thought that this was definitely one of the best episodes of the series so far. I didn’t even mind that Peter, Isaac, Hiro, Mohinder, and all the others weren’t in it.

But where did the wired girl go? She was at HRG’s house at the end of the episode, but gone this one.

One other question, who was Claude protecting 7 years ago?

Thomas: No, the girl (I assume you mean Wireless, the Israeli) wasn’t at the house last week. And I have a feeling that the Hero that Claude was protecting will crop up soon if they haven’t already.

Well, I’d say that it was the best episode of “Heroes” to date, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s the best hour of television I’ve ever seen. Here’s what I had to say about it:

    Kyle Nin,

Actually, Hiro was in this past episode: he was the kid playing his GameBoy in the flashback scene.

Yeah, I know that’s not what you meant. ;)

Also, did anyone else notice the necklace the Haitian was wearing?

Wasn’t expecting a scene with Hiro’s dad like that one!

After watching Heroes, I have to wonder if everyone can speak Japanese but me… :-)

  9. Thomas on February 28th, 2007 6:42 pm

Ari, turning japanese, i think I am turning Japanese I really think so….

Claude protecting Claire’s biological mom? Interesting… I also wonder if Mr Bennett knew that Nathan was Claire’s real dad… or if he would have figured it out if they’d captured him?

  11. Bronzethumb on February 28th, 2007 10:49 pm

Probably the latter. Imagine the showdown between HRG and Nathan if that little bit of info came to light?

Solid episode, yes. Best episode of Heroes, so far….yes.

Best episode of TV ever…not so much.

    Mark in SL:

The necklace pattern shows up all over the place. The necklace was also shown in one of the first episodes the Haitian was in. I think there are also 2 different tattoo’s the the “Heroes” get, one of them being the same pattern.

  15. Mark in St. Louis on March 2nd, 2007 5:47 am

Guess I missed the necklace the first time. I’ve seen the pattern in other places, although I can’t remember where at the moment. As far as another pattern goes, I haven’t noticed another one yet. Guess I’ll have to look harder.

That’s one thing I love/hate about this show: if you blink, you could miss something important.
