The Robert Rodriquez / Quentin Tarantino collaboration “Grindhouse” is finally ready for release on April 6th, and it’ll be a double-bill that showcases both director’s love for the horror/slasher exploitation films of the 60’s and 70’s. Each director will present their own one hour film, that combined will make for one full-length feature.
The Rodriquez film is called “Planet Terror” and explores an alien world that looks and feels a lot like our own Earth but with eerie differences that make it unique.
Tarantino’s effort is a gore-fest salute to the renowned slasher flick and is titled “Death Proof.” In it the killer loves pursuing his victims by using his car as the weapon of choice.

Director Mike Nawrocki and writer Phil Vischer came up with the idea to use a pirate backdrop for a new story of heroism for Veggie Tales. Our heroes, Elliot, Sedgewick and George–aka Larry the Cucumber, Mr. Lunt and Pa Grape are working at The Pirate Times Dinner Theater as busboys and are bored out of their, well, rinds. Anyway, all that is about to change when a mysterious ball drops from the sky and lands at their feet. This ball is really a “Helpseeker” sent from the past in search of real heroes willing to do what it takes to rescue a royal family, battle tyranny all while setting sail on the high seas of the past.

Is Lucas preparing a 30th anniversary release of Star Wars? Is the sky blue? Do Michael and Evo like good beer?
I think the answers to all of these are both obvious and the same…

Hmm. I had to downlaod the MP3 because this ep is just not shwoing up in iTunes. Good show though, even if I did have to scan for it in the music section of my Nano (right between Queensryche and Nada Surf).

No love for Special Unit 2, what happen to the samll boy in the lot of you? I wouldn’t run out and buy the fifty dollar dvd of the show, if there were one. I think the show is a lot of fun.
I could see Summer play the part of kickass bodyguard or a as a human hired to hunt down Sarah. She is doing a good job on the Unit, but it looks like they’re winding down her character on that show.

I liked Special Unit 2 as well. Fun show to watch. It ran for 2 half seasons on UPN. It was trying to be a TV version of Men in Black, with a little Buffy-parody thrown for fun (the only mythical monsters which were NOT real in this world were vampires!)
The pilot of Torchwood basically stole it’s whole plot from SU2.

I just wanted to offer a little guidance to the naive hosts of this podcast.
The generalization that VeggieTales is a fundamentalist tool is completely wrong. I am about as anti-fundamentalist as you can get and someone who rarely goes to church.
That said, Larry and Bob are offering basic Christian messages that appeal to fundamentals, part-time Christians and, at times, even agnostics and atheists.
Strip away talk about God and you get some pretty clear common sense advice.
So, the Veggies appeal to people of many faiths and provide children and adults a lot of laughs.
If you want to learn more about the Veggies, pick up Phil Vischer’s book “Me, Myself and Bob”.
