'The SciFi Boy' Visits Slice of SciFi for Show #094 on January 31, 2007

paul-davids.jpgOur guest on Slice of SciFi Show #094 this Wednesday, January 31st is writer/director and original SciFi Boy, Paul Davids.

Paul has written several Star Wars novels with his wife Hollace, including “Star Wars: The Glove of Darth Vader,” “Star Wars: The Lost City of the Jedi” and “Star Wars: Mission From Mount Yoda” just to name three. He has been involved in the production of some very popular motion picture efforts such as, the animated “Transformers: The Movie” and “Roswell: The UFO Cover-Up” starring Martin Sheen and Kyle MacLachlan. However, his most popular film has to be the 2006 documentary film “The SciFi Boys,” the movie that takes legendary all-stars of SciFi cinema and brings to life the evolution of science-fiction and special effects films from the wild and funny days of B-movies to blockbusters that have captured the world’s imagination. The film highlights the story of a group of kids making amateur movies inspired by Forrest J Ackerman’s FAMOUS MONSTERS magazine. These boys, like Spielberg, Landis, Jackson, Baker and Lucas, grew up to take Hollywood by storm, inventing the art and technology for filming that we take for granted today.

You can catch “The Scifi Boys” on the SCI FI Channel on February 7th at 11PM ET/PT, and it is also available on DVD.

Here is just a sample of what to expect from the rest of the show:

Singer and Dougherty are promising lots more action from the next Superman flick. SciFi gets good representation at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony due to air the last week of February…and, there is a new WOOD in town pumping out major award-winning movies.

We take a look at a new Stone Cold Steve Austin flick you may want to miss, and one film you will definitely not want to miss is the Zack Snyder/Frank Miller collaboration “300.”

In TV Talk we have loads of “Heroes” news that includes some new online information and casting additions to the already stellar ensemble list of actors.

For the future we ask the question, “Can those kids from Hogwarts remain children for long?” The answer is of course No! And, the next film in the Potter series due out in July 2007, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” proves it as Harry, while still a student himself, also becomes the teacher.
