Author Peter S. Beagle Visits Slice of SciFi for Show #092 — January 17th
Peter S. Beagle is the famous author of novels (fantasy and nonfiction), and screenplays. He is also a talented musician and singer. His very first novel, “A Fine and Private Place,” was published when he was only 19 years old and is considered a classic. But, his most recognized work is “The Last Unicorn,” rated as one of the top ten fantasy novels of all time.
Peter is equally popular for his screenplays, including the critically acclaimed episode on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” titled ‘Sarek.’ He wrote the screenplay for the 1978 Ralph Bakshi-animated version of “The Lord of the Rings,” and adapated “The Last Unicorn” on film.
His other claim to fame is his ownership of the literary estate of science fiction author Edgar Pangborn.
We will be talking to Peter about the ongoing legal battle over monies owed him for “The Last Unicorn,” and other projects he is currently involved in.
For the rest of the show we have tons and tons of Movie and TV News, including stories about Avatar for Cameron and Shyamalan, a Flash Gordon update along with several other possible new TV shows currently under consideration for 2007 and 2008.
Anne Hathaway becomes our obsession for Future Talk and in Regular News we take a look at the SCI FI Channel ratings for the last quarter of 2006, which are very shiney, Yin Yang Yo gets renewed for 26 new episodes, and the highly intelligent 1980’s TV show “The Equalizer” will get a 21st Century update for the big screen.
