CW Network Deals With iTunes
The CW Network is the newest kid on the block (the offspring of The WB and UPN merger) and now one of TV’s latest to join the iTunes craze, bringing the network full-swing into the digital age.
Two of the network’s staples, “Supernatural” and “Veronica Mars,” are now available for download on iTunes marking it the first time any CW entry has been available for sale via the Internet. The deal penned between CW and iTunes will also allow for many of the net’s other shows to find there way to iTunes very soon.
With the addition of CW all five major conventional broadcast networks now are offering their products via the net either on iTunes, their own digital websites or both.
Later this month, website CWTV.com will begin beta-testing a new videoplayer that will stream full-length episodes of CW programs, however, unlike the iTunes editions those on CWTV.com are free but will have commercials. The new CW player will be available on the network’s website in January 2007.
