Trek to the Troops Meet~n~Greet Event Pics
This year’s annual Trek to the Troops “Meet~n~Greet” at the Bob Hope USO Center was a huge success despite the fact the actor John Billingsley wasn’t able to attend due to his on-the-set of “Nine” shooting schedule conflict and Vaughn Armstrong being attacked and put under the blanket by the flu bug.
The over 200 military personnel that passed through the center that day were not left disappointed however, as Mr. Chekov himself, the iconic actor Walter Koenig was on hand all day to meet with them and sign autographs, sit and chat and have a full day of fun and excitement. Also Gary Graham from “Star Trek: Enterprise” and “Alien Nation” fame was on hand for the service men and women coming to the center at LAX.
In a really nice surprise for everyone at the USO Center, original “Battlestar Galactica” alum Herbert Jefferson, Jr, who played Boomer on the 1970’s version of the hit series dropped by to the delight of everyone. Herbert is a big supporter of the USO’s effort to reach out to our fighting young men and women stationed throughout the world.
Some Marines sang funny Trekified Christmas songs. The Trek to the Troops staff gave away scripts from the Roddenberry Family vault. These were provided by Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry via his Roddenberry.com production company. Chris Mulrooney, the founder of Trek to the Troops, and himself a U.S. serviceman currently on active duty, tried his hand at standup comedy and providing the MC service for the Event.
And, let’s not forget the special fans who showed up in full Federation dress to help with the event and make those military personnel who dropped by feel very much at home.
Enjoy these pics from the event which was held on December 12, 2006:
