“Heroes” has become, not only NBC’s biggest new hit of the season, but the biggest ratings hit on any network this year since it first aired in September. The show quickly captured an audience with its superb writing, quick pace and fine acting from its varied ensemble cast. One of those cast members is our guest for the next Slice of SciFi show.
Leonard Roberts joins the Slice of SciFi gang for a great interview talking about how he got the Heroes gig, what it is like to move from a hero in the ring, when he portrayed the legendary Joe Louis in the hit movie “Joe and Max,” to becoming a new kind of hero in the hit TV show “Heroes.”
In 1995 Leonard graduated from the prestigious DePaul University with his BFA in acting and quickly found work in such hit movies as Spike Lee’s “He Got Game” with Denzel Washington, and the popular film “Drumline.” He also scored big in television appearing in at least seventeen different television programs over the last 11 years. Some of those shows include, “JAG,” “Navy: NCIS,” “Bones,” “24,” and “Smallville.”
For the television crowd the role Roberts was most noted for before the “Heroe’s” part came his way was that of Forrest Gates on the very popular Joss Whedon series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
Leonard’s most recent role has turned him into a very high-profile sought after young actor. He stars as D.L. Hawkins, father of Micah (Noah-Gray Cabey) and estranged husband to the split-personality and emotionally challenged Niki Sanders (Ari Larter) on “Heroes.”
