With the success of “Lost” and “Day Break,” as well as NBC’s mega-hit “Heroes,” network TV is moving from tipping their toes into the SF waters and putting in, at least for the moment, one entire leg.
In an update to our story of November 1st called “Prophetic Barrister” ABC has added some more cast members to their proposed SF lawyer show “Eli Stone.”
As we stated earlier it will star Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Smith) in the lead, only now with added cast members Laura Benanti (Take the Lead) and James Saito (The Thomas Crown Affair) giving co-starring roles.
The show is a high-concept legal drama about a lawyer (Miller) who finds out he is a prophet. Benanti will play Beth, a single mother and Eli’s first love back in college, who is now pleading with him to help her sue her insurance company after it refused to cover an experimental treatment for her autistic child. Saito will play Dr. Chen, Eli’s impostor acupuncturist.
The pilot script for “Eli Stone” is currently in development. Stay tuned here to Slice of SciFi for further production updates and proposed air dates.
