Alchemy - Turning the Page Into a Film Franchise

November 21, 2006 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Film News

Producer Mark Burnett (Survivior, The Apprentice) has bought up the film rights to the novel series “The Immortal Nicholas Flamel” with an eye on turning the Michael Scott fantasy literary work into a franchise of films starting with the first in the series, “The Alchemyst.”

The story centers around teenage twins who find themselves in the adventure of a lifetime when the legendary alchemist Nicholas Flamel misplaces his book that holds a terrible secret that could virtually destroy all of humankind should it fall into sinister hands.

Burnett is currently looking at New Line Cinema for a deal maker. Perhaps Mark should first sit down with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh before signing those final papers with New Line’s Toby Emmerich, Mark Ordesky and Ileen Maisel.

Burnett’s director of choice? How about Spielberg?…..he is afterall, cooking with the guy on one of his reality shows.
