Nanoflix, the makers of “Killer Robot,” have created a new animated future noir feature titled “Stolen Life”. This 3D animated epic will star the voices of Claudia Black from “Stargate SG1” and “Farscape” and Chris Jones of the legendary Tex Murphy interactive adventures and is currently in post-production
The story is done in a dark and moody detective noir style and revolves around a solitary spacecraft that makes a landing on a seemingly barren asteroid. The traveller in the craft is named Pi (Christ Jones) and is himself a machine and a private investigator for ‘the company.’ He lands at what appears to be an old abandoned refuelling station and after opening a hatchway that leads below to the dark under-surface of the planet, finds and reactivates a disengaged female robot called Kieru (Claudia Black) – who turns out to have been the station’s manager.
The big question on Pi’s mind is “What happen here” and he sets out to find out why Kieru appears to be hiding information from him and the mystery behind why this facility was left desolate.
This feature film is now complete after a year of production and boasts the use of the groundbreaking technique Machinima – 3D animation in a game engine. This allowed the film’s creators to make the main location in one piece instead of the typical animated style of using fragmented sets of a total location. It also allowed the camera to chase characters from room to room and scene to scene without having to cut, and allows them to unlock the camera during an animated sequence and move it around as the characters go through their paces on the virtual set. This is all in real time and allows the productuion crew to get the perfect shot to communicate the heart of the scene.
“Stolen Life” was nominated six times at the Machinima Film Festival and is due to be released sometime early 2007.

At the Farscape Burbank Convention this past weekend attendees got to see a 10 minute preview of the movie. Claudia’s voice – as always – mesmerizes, and the story looks intriguing.
I am looking forward to seeing the finished project.
