In the early ’70s, there was no Star Trek on the air, except in syndication. Then along came the Animated Series on Saturday mornings, although it only ran for a scant 22 episodes. And while it wasn’t quite the Original Series, it was close; it had the voice talent and some of the writers from TOS.
