Murder TV

Television is banking on murder-crime dramas, with a mixture of the supernatural and scifi to be the next big draw for the ratings race.

“X-Files” alum Frank Spotnitz is developing “Murder Incorporated” for ABC. A man discovers that although he comes from wealth, the family money came from some very unsavory business dealings.

Fox TV Studios and Fuse Entertainment have hired John Scott Shepherd (Joe Somebody) to script and co-executive produce a ditty called “Killing Sam Carter,” also for ABC. The story will revolve around a time traveler with amnesia.

And finally, a show with a strange twist and interesting premise is being developed by the new CW Network and is being co-written by the highly successful “Law and Order: SVU” writing duo Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Titled “Reaper,” the show will be about a guy who becomes Satan’s bounty hunter, reclaiming souls that have found a way to escape from the confines of the eternal resting place for nasties – that’s right, Hell!

"Reaper" sounds a lot like the TV series "Brimstone".

"Brimstone": another potentially great show that was cancelled too soon by Fox.

And one which, perplexingly, is not yet on DVD, give Fox's penchant for rushing it's cancelled shows to the great big wall of Fox DVDs at Best Buy.
