I also called in about MythTV and probably didn’t make the episode cut-off. For those who arent familiar with MythTV, I written an article in Linux Pro Magazine explaining it in detail:

Thanks for the info. This looks interesting and worth some follow up. Course, if we give it too much attention it may go the way of other technologies that met up with the legal team for the ad guys.

I don’t know if you guys will do anything with this but…
ReplayTV is by no means dead. I own one and I bought it about two years ago.

CompUSA still sells them for about $50 for an 80 hour unit. That’s pretty cheap, but my last TiVo 80 hour was only $80.
I can’t say for sure if it still has the feature that skips commercials automatically, but it still has the 30 second fast forward. Of course TiVo has a 30 FF too, you just have to use the special handshake to activate it.
All that said, I would imagine that if the “suits” have their way, all those devices will have the feature to delete shows when the “suits” say so instead of when we want to. MythTV, being open source, will probably not be obliged to do this and will be the only DVR option that will allow you to keep stuff you record for as long as “you” want to and not the suits.
The way things are going here, I’m moving further and further away from broadcast television and closer to IPTV (Video Podcasts) and other content like Slice. If I want to watch a show like BSG, then I’ll pay for them on iTunes. So long as they don’t delete the download after 3 days! (I can’t see that happening since we are paying for the show… you never know though…)

I’d just like to say that I thought that Frank Miller’s Robocop vs. Terminator comic was very well done. I haven’t read it recently, but I really enjoyed it back it ’92 when it came out.
From what I can remember a human is sent back from the Terminator Future to destroy RoboCop, and three terminators are sent back to protect him. RoboCop learns that the technology used to create him will eventually lead to the creation of Skynet and he tries to stop it from happening.
I don’t think it was just a case of throwing any two things together. Dark Horse had been publishing Terminator comics since at least 1990, and Frank Miller had a good level of familiarity with RoboCop, having written the original screenplays for RoboCop 2 and 3, which were then rewritten beyond recognition.
If you can find them, I’d suggest giving them a read.

Mike was mentioning about some comics/shows charcaters were black & white while others were shades of gray. I got a good laugh when I thought I heard him say Star Wars was shades of gray.
