Hollywood Quickies

June 28, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

Director Bryan Singer will not be involved with the remake of “Logan’s Run” as was previously supposed.

A sequel to “Superman Returns” will get all the primary people back, Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, head writer Dan Harris on one condition – Bryan Singer must be the studio’s director of choice.

Chinese superstar Chow Yun-Fat will team up with fellow actor Gong Li in the Zhang Yimou martial-arts saga “Curse of the Golden Flower.” Sony Pictures will fund the project.

The rumor mill is gristing out a fable about a possible remake of the James Bond flick “Thunderball” starring Pierce Brosnan in a return to his wetsuit tux as 007. This would put two competing Bond’s on at the same time – Brosnan and Craig, a trick that was tried and failed in 1983 when an aging Sean Connery returned as Bond in “Never Say Never Again” at the same time that Roger Moore was playing the famous British agent in “Octopussy.”

Speaking of Roger Moore, the veteran actor will be lending his voice to the upcoming animation film “Agent Crush” as a character named Burt Gasket. Also onboard are Neve Campbell, Brian Cox and possibley Obi Wan himself – Ewan McGregor.

“SNAKES ON A PLANE” trailer can be found at Yahoo!

Laren Shuler-Donner, producer of the X-Men movie is still trying to get a Metal Men movie off the ground. The original Metal Men comics were written by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito back in the 60s. The Metal Men were created by Doctor Will Magnus who gave them “responsometers” and an ability to reduce their composition into blobs of molten metal so they could shift shapes can imitate objects of any size. The Metal Men consist of Tin, Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury and Platinum.

X-Men spinoff Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman has been confirmed for a 2007 theatrical release. — Scratch that. A spokesman for 20th Century Fox has curtailed that optimistic forcast and now states that the release is more likely to occur in 2008 due to Jackman’s busy shooting schedule with other projects.

Look for a possible reteaming of Bruce Willis and William Shatner in the animated sequel “Over the Hedge 2.”

The pilot episode of the new vampire series “Blade” hits the SPIKE Cable TV Network tonight at 10:00 PM EST.

And finally….the question begs to be asked: If J.J. Abrams is seriously considering Matt Damon as a young Kirk, can Ben Affleck be far behind as the veritable Mr. Spock? Just asking.

Ben Affleck as Mr. Spock, YES!!! If in fact, Matt Damon is Kirk, Ben would be the appropriate choice as Mr. Spock. Ben has the quirkiness, the coloring of hair and skin, and when you put Matt and Ben together they can make this a true WINNER!! I say a BIG YES!!!

I believe Ben is a a true Trekkie follower and I’m sure he would do the proper research for this character to make it work. Let’s give him a chance, he can do it!

I love Ben and Matt together! SWEET HARMONY

Pierce Brosnan in a remake of ‘Thunderball’?

Sean Connery’s ‘Never Say Never’ WAS a remake of ‘Thunderball’, how many times are they gonna make this novel?

Ugh. Another remake of Thunderball? Wow, beating a dead horse much? I personally am looking forward to the new Bond film. the series has been stale for a while and I look forward to them injecting new life into the character.
