In what can only be seen as good news for the future of scifi on television, Variety is reporting that famed writer/producer Rene Echevarria has signed a juicy seven-figure/2-year deal with the CBS Paramount Television Network.
Echevarria is currently the executive producer of the hit NBC show “Medium,” starring Patricia Arquette. Some other little scifi gems he has been involved with are STAR TREK’s “The Next Generation” and “Deep Space Nine.” He is co-creator with Scott Peters of the USA Network mega-hit “The 4400.”

Way to go Hollywood! Please, please keep rewarding the geniuses who make quality shows.
Thank you!
Now, can you back a truck of money up to Joss's house and get him back to producing TV shows. TV is empty without him....
CBS? Um...didn't they dump a good sci-fi show this past season? In fact, didn't they dump it BEFORE the season was even half over?
If I remember correctly, they did. And the show was THRESHOLD.
I'm happy for Rene, but it's a guarded happiness.
I hope he gets a good chunk of Up Front cashy money.
This show isn't on CBS. It's on NBC. But your statement applies there too, considering that SURFACE was cancelled.
great resume!!!!
i hope this is good news the sci-fi fans!
what affect will this have on "medium" and "4400" though????
