Shawn Piller Joins Us On Slice of SciFi Show #62 – June 20, 2006

June 18, 2006 By News Droid Leave a Comment

s pillerOur guest on the next Slice of SciFi Show will be writer/producer Shawn Piller. Shawn is the son of famous STAR TREK writer/producer Michael Piller, who died November of last year.

Shawn has been an accomplished writer and producer in his own right and has written and produced episodes of Star Trek’s “The Next Generation,” “Deep Space Nine” and “Voyager.” He is currently the producer and co-creator of the hit USA Network program “The Dead Zone,” starring Anthony Michael Hall, which has just started its 5th season on the cable network.

Shawn will talk about what led him to take a Stephen King novel turned 1983 hit movie starring Christopher Walken and re-create it into this huge TV mega hit series that he admits is, at this point in his career, his most important professional accomplishment. He may also reveal some of the plans he has for the series in seasons 6 and 7. Hopefully we can get him to tell us a little about a possible future project he may have planned with acting icon Richard Dean Anderson.

In our news segment we learn why studios are opting more and more for animation over live-action. In a Sci-Fi to Sci-Fact segment Mike gets to drooling over the new European Space Agency launch of ExoMars and its “Mars Pregnancy Test.” We also reveal how a special effects era is coming to an end.

Movie Talk looks at the casting for Sir Anthony Hopkins “Slipstream, and on the tele we take a look at some “Haunting Evidence.”

Summer draws back the misty curtain of tomorrow and pays a tribute to in-bred crackers and gives us an update on the live-action shooting of the famous anime series “Evangelion.

We have a big show planned for you so be sure and drop-by, download and listen good. That’s Slice of SciFi Show #62, hot, sweaty and waiting eagerly for you on June 20, 2006.
