The Silent Universe, which in my opinion, is one of the best dramatic podcasting programs on the net today has released its second episode and Slice of SciFi is honored to be the proud sponsors of this episode along with The Dragon Page.
Episode One, “Mission 256″ released in February 2006, was a huge success and now that creative team over at The Silent Universe is ready to present Episode 2 entitled “Chinese Chess.”
For as little as $2.49 (US currency) per full-length episode you can enjoy audio drama that harkens back to the glory days of radio but with the wonders of internet technology of the 21st Century.

Sam,
Have you really listened to Silent Universe? How can you deem a podio-drama "...best dramatic podcasting programs on the net today..." after only one episode?
Especially a first episode that sounded so rough and was released four months ago, with no real exlpanation of the long release period.
Children of the Gods has put out four episodes, and is for more comprehensive, and not arrogant enough to beg for money after it's first episode. CotG has a discreet donate button, and has only mentioned it in the forums, andnot made a issue of "higher quality", "commercial free" BS that Silent Universe has.
I know it is early to just SU, and that things of this nature take a lot of work, I work on my own podio-drama The Heimdall Chorinicles (http://heimdallteam.com), so I know what both produceres are going through. But to call this the best audio drama so soon in it's production makes you look like a corporate stooge.
Maybe you should make some personal decisions, instead of toting the corporate line.
Well, due to the nature of my job here at SoSF I listen to a lot of programming on and off the net -- don't ask me where I find the time, but I do --- and SU is one of the best podcast drama's out there today (I never called it THE BEST - only one of the best)...I would list Children of the Gods also as one of the best. I would not call either one of them, or any other for that matter, THE BEST quite yet because this is all still pretty new and we still have a lot to learn. Besides, at my age I remember old radio dramas like Inner Sanctum, The Shadow, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, The Lone Ranger and so forth and podcast dramatic programming still has a ways to go to rise up to that bar, but they will get there and sooner than one might think.
The low quality version is free. Frankly I'd expect weekly or at least bi-weekly releases if I was paying for it. Its just too cheeky for an unproven outfit like this to demand money when they've barely started.
Frankly everyone and his brother on the net wants money. I just dont have enough to go around and there's a lot better quality material out there for less money ($2.50 per episode soon mounts up). The low-quality version will do fine and if its not listenable- as I said, there's plenty of other stuff out there and plenty of sci-fi clssics in the library.
I really like the Falcon Banner too and it is also free. I'm really disappointed to see that they are now charging...
