Clearing Up the Silent Universe Story
I gotta a note from Julius of The Silent Universe and he asked me to make some things clear that may not have been so obvious from my original story.
It is apparent from the comments and emails I have been receiving that our readers may not be aware that there are both a FREE version and an OPTIONAL Pay version for The Silent Universe.
I’ll accept responsiblity for the muddiness of my original story and let me try again. First I will not retract my comments about SU being one of the best dramatic podcasts available today on the net. I’ll stand by that and expect it to only get better with each episode.
Second, a free edition of the past and any future episodes are available on iTunes, Yahoo, or any Generic RSS Feed. The $2.49 (or $1.49 per episode subscription) price gets you access to a CD quality cut of the program.
John Taber’s comment confirmed to Julius what he suspected, that people think SU is going ALL pay and you can’t get any of the episodes for free anymore. I apologize to the good folks over at The Silent Universe and to all our readers and listeners to Slice of SciFi if my article left anyone thinking that was the case. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
Now, get your butts over there and check out The Silent Universe.

Episode 1 stereo 160kbps CBR 38.49 mins
Episode 2 mono 24kbps CBR 17.37 mins
Despite the plummeting sound quality (first one must be a teaser) it is still totally listenable and hey its free!
$1.49 per episode (subscrition basis) is more reasonable (although 17mins is very short) than the initially quoted $2.49. You can’t really blame them for wanting to charge for the premium product- this isnt your usual podcast.
