Kyle's Quick Briefs

Here are a few quick briefs from the news desk of SoSF reporter Kyle Nin.

• Director Guillermo del Toro moves Hellboy 2 from Sony Pictures over to the Paramount lot.
• Alien vs Predator 2 (AVP2) may have two new directors in the brother team of Greg and Colin Strause ((the Brothers Strause). These two were the whiz-kids behind all those nifty special effects in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Fantastic Four” and “The Day After Tomorrow.”
• Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang (Memoirs of a Geisha) will star in a live-action remake of Disney Pictures highly successful animated feature “Mulan.” What some may not know is Mulan was based on an original 1956 Chinese saga.
• The entertainment community is all aflutter trying to figure out who will direct and star in “The Da Vinci Code” Dan Brown prequel “Angels and Demons.” Sony would love to get Ron Howard back into the center seat but also admit that since the story centers on a younger Robert Langdon character, “a younger (and cheaper) male lead” other than Tom Hanks “might work out fine.”
• It has been rumored over the last several months that the award winning actress Virginia Madsen (Sideways) would be playing Mrs. Indiana Jones in the Indy 4 production about the famous adventureous archeological professor. Madsen played Harrison Ford’s wife in the recent thriller “Firewall.” Ms. Madsen said in a recent interview that while she hopes the rumor is true, neither George Lucas, Steven Spielberg or Ford have approached her about it – yet. the famous actress is, however, keeping her fingers crossed.
