In a recent interview during a DVD release press junket for “Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, Jim Ward, President of Lucas Arts made some interesting revelations.
The first major announcement was this will be the first Star Wars release that will not be available on VHS; so all you die-hard holdouts better trot-off and buy that DVD player.
Major promotionals for the DVD will be done through Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Plus, Ward promised that a huge TV campaign through an unnamed, nationally-rated television program will be coming soon.
Ward stated that, to his knowledge, no talks are underway at the Ranch for an ultimate “Star Wars” box-set of all six feature films with all the bells and whistles. (But come on, you know it’s comin’ sooner or later).
When asked to give information about the much anticipated “Star Wars” television venture, Ward only commented that there are a couple of animated and live action shows in the works and deffered all questions on that subject to Rick McCullum, the “Star Wars” producer.
He did reveal that the “Clone Wars – Volume II” video will be available in December 2005. Other “Star Wars” games in the works are “Empire Wars” due out in June 2006 and an “Indiana Jones” game for the Summer of 2007 to coincide with the 2007 release of the newest big-screen installment of “Indiana Jones” starring Harrison Ford.
