Fans of Scott Bakula and Star Trek: Enterprise are collecting funds for charity in honor of Scott Bakula’s (Captain Jonathan Archer) birthday, October 9, 2005.
Several Trek Fans United.com fans are gathering funds to be sent to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina in honor of Scott’s (Captain Archer’s) Birthday. They have also gotten corporate matching funds for this project through a national corporation with subsidiaries in the Washington D.C./ Baltimore area. Therefore any amount contributed will double since the “corporate angel” will match the contribution dollar for dollar.
The idea was first thought up by TFU member AnitaSB123 as a way for Star Trek fans to help bring relief to the hurricane devastated area. In comments on the TFU Forum she stated, “Let me express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has participated so far in this effort to send aid to Katrina victims for Scott’s birthday. I recognize that there are several birthday projects currently being put forward by other parties. As a matter of fact, I have participated in two other charitable birthday projects myself. I realize also that funds may well be limited for all of us at this difficult time. But so many of our fellow Americans on the Gulf Coast have lost literally everything in this fierce storm and its aftermath. Whatever you might be able to spare will be of great help as they begin to put their lives back together, and our combined gifts will be a fitting tribute for Scott’s Birthday and a recognition of his character.”
The organizers of the effort have only asked for whatever you can spare. AnitaSB123 went on to say, that any gift of any size “will be greatly appreciated and will be doubled by our generous corporate partner.”
According to the forum’s information, funds will be donated to Americares, which has already delivered more than $1 million worth of emergency medicines, bottled water and general relief supplies to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, with the latest shipments of medicines assisting people in Baton Rouge, Biloxi and Lafayette, or to Habitat for Humanity, and its response to the hurricane devastation, “Operation Home Delivery,” which will deliver ‘pre-built’ houses and construction materials to survivors who need to get back into permanent homes.
The cutoff date for contributions is October 1, 2005 at Midnight. After that date, all contributions along with the matching funds will be sent to Americares or Habitat for Humanity. As well, a birthday card notifying Scott of the gift in his honor will be sent to him. Everyone who participates will also receive a report of the amount of the contributions and any messages relayed by either Americares or Habitat for Humanity.
Remember to mail your contribution early enough so that it arrives on or before October 1, 2005.

I am a very huge fan of Mr. Bakula and I think he is really cool. I sent a letter to Mr. Bakula last year of December and I love all the roles he has played on star trek episodes and movies. I am just concern why I haven’t recieve at least a fan card or poster, picture as a response from my sincere letter to my favorite actor in the whole wide world. Mr Bakula is still a great guy and he will always be my favorite actor.
