Slice of SciFi news has learned that Steven Spielberg will be producing the remake of the classic 1950’s feature “When World’s Collide.” The trade paper, Variety, reports that it has not been made clear yet on whether Spielberg will also direct the movie.
Originally released in 1951, “When World’s Collide” was considered one of the best sci-fi films of its era along with 1953’s “War of the Worlds” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still” which starred Michael Rennie and Academy Award winner Patricia Neal; also released in 1951.
After astronomers discover that Earth is on a collsion course with another planet, they work vigorously to build a craft that can remove only a small portion of inhabitants off the planet in order to preserve humanity and other species. The spacecraft is envisioned as sort of a modern day space travelling Noah’s Ark.
