There is one name that always immediately comes to my mind whenever anyone mentions that 60’s classic movie “To Kill A Mockingbird,” and it is Brock Peters.
I remember going to the theater in 1962 to see it. I was 13 years old and sat there mesmerized by Peters’ performance. I have been a fan ever since.
That is why it saddened me to find out that Brock passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was 78 years old and leaves behind a long and illustrious career as the consummate actor.
As a Star Trek fan I loved him as both Admiral Cartwright (Star Trek IV & VI) and Joseph Sisko, the wisened father of Captain Benjamin Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In fact, I remember how upset I got with the writers when they turned his character, Admiral Cartwright, into a traitor of the Federation and Starfleet in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
The man and his classic style and regal voice will be sadly missed by me and all those who loved watching him enlighten and entertain us.
