Did you know that all but one of the original cast of “Star Trek” have been honored with a star on Hollywood Blvd’s ‘Walk of Fame?’
Walter Koenig, who has starred as Chekov during the entire TOS series run on TV and Movies is the final and remaining cast member not so honored.
Finally, Koenig’s fans worldwide have said, “that’s enough,” and are campaigning to ensure that their favorite actor and character from the venerated series receives his much-deserved ‘star of recognition.’

Actually Checkov did not join the cast until season 2. He was not there for the entire run of Star Trek. But I still think he should get his star.

You are correct in pointing out that the character was not visible from the beginning, however, canon places Chekov on Enterprise in season one, but not a bridge officer. Khan, remembers him as being part of the crew of Enterprise (see: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan), even though the character was never seen on-screen in “Space Seed” (aired Season 1 on 02-16-1967). But your point (as far as Koenig himself is concerned being part of the cast) is well taken.
