1. Harrison Ford is now fully onboard for the Indy 4 movie and will do most of his own stunts…..you go grandpa!
2. Kevin Heffernan hires Socrates to tutor him in Jay Chanrasekhar’s “The Greek Road.”
3. “Voltron,” a low-budget 80’s Japanese animated series will get a big-budget, big-screen makeover according to producer Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow).
4. Paramount Pictures has acquired the movie rights to Daniel H. Wilson’s “How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips to Defend Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion.” The movie’s working title to date is “Robot Uprising.”
5. Chuck Russell (The Mask, Eraser, Collateral, The Scorpion King) gets the nod to sit in the director’s chair for the upcoming nuclear war drama entitled, “Point Thunder.”
6. Director Ron Howard has confirmed that his old buddy Bill Paxton will star in Universal’s remake of the “Creature from the Black Lagoon.” The feature will be directed by Brett Ratner (Red Dragon).
7. Universal has also secured the movie rights to the “God of War” video game. Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will produce. The writing and directing jobs are yet to be announced.
8. “The Island,” from Michael Bay had a very poor showing on its opening weekend bringing in only $12.1 million in over 3000 cinemas. Of all the Summer 2005 releases to date, “Batman Begins,” “The Fantastic Four,” and “War of the Worlds” are leading the pack.
9. Disney execs. will be watching closely the box-office returns of its family-friendly superhero flick, “Sky High,” starring Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston, and Lynda Carter. If it does as well as they are expecting, look for sequels to follow. Russell began his acting career as a child star with Disney.
10. Another Anti-Christ film is in the offing. The remake of the 1976 horror classic will be helmed by director John Moore and has a working title of “The Omen 666.” Dan McDermott is the script writer and shooting is scheduled to begin in October of this year.
